Madison River Valley

The Madison River valley has always been a recreational destination synonymous with Montana and fly fishing trophy waters. From its beginning at the confluence of the Gibbon and Firehole Rivers in Yellowstone National Park, the Madison winds its way north to its meeting point with the Jefferson and Gallatin Rivers as part of the headwaters of the Missouri River, creating some of the most highly coveted stretches of angling in North America while on its journey.

The Alder Gulch gold rush of 1863 brought the first European settlers to the area and the town of Ennis was, and still remains, a retail and recreational hub in the valley. There are numerous other area attractions up and down the valley including, but not limited to visiting the historical mining towns of Virginia City and Nevada City, the entrance to our first national park at West Yellowstone, MT and Yellowstone National Park itself, exploring the Lewis and Clark Caverns south of Three Forks, MT, numerous lakes and natural hot springs, abundant shops, guest ranches and art galleries, as well as the nearby towns of Big Sky and Bozeman.

The Madison Valley is also host to vast acreages of National Forest Service and Wilderness lands, offering world class hiking and big game hunting, as well as mountain biking and horseback riding. The valley encompasses all of the best that Montana has to offer.
